Jared Smith: Auburn's Pass Rush Game-Changer?

Jared Smith has significantly boosted Auburn's pass rush capabilities during fall camp, establishing himself as a potential difference-maker for DJ Durkin's defense. While Da'Shawn Womack provided a reliable floor, Smith's progression into a top talent within the room was the best-case scenario, which now appears to be a reality.

Smith's improved performance is vital for the Tigers' defensive front. His ability to consistently pressure quarterbacks without manufactured blitzes could elevate the entire defense, potentially making it one of the nation's best. This development offers crucial support to other defensive linemen and allows linebackers more freedom to create turnovers.

The upcoming game against Baylor will serve as an early test for this bolstered defensive line. If Smith and his teammates can generate more pressure than in previous seasons, it will significantly improve the offense's opportunities and Auburn's standing as a conference competitor, moving beyond merely aiming for bowl eligibility.
