An adventurer named Tom Clowes completed a 3,000-mile rowing journey across the Atlantic Ocean, finishing on January 21, 2026, after 39 days at sea. He spent both Christmas and New Year's Day on the water during this epic feat.
Clowes was part of a four-person team that traveled from the Canary Islands to Antigua. The team secured 9th place out of 42 boats in the race. They collectively raised over £350,000 for charities such as Cure Parkinson's, My Name'5 Doddie, the Matt Hampson Foundation, and The Clocktower Foundation.
Clowes was inspired by those facing Parkinson's disease, motivating him through the toughest moments. The team's morale was further uplifted by messages from notable figures including Bear Grylls, James Blunt, and Hugh Bonneville. Each team member rowed in two-hour shifts, with two rowing simultaneously while others rested or ate pre-packaged meals. Clowes reported losing 7kg, while teammate Ollie Phillips lost approximately 17kg during the voyage.
