Kanye's Million-Dollar Staycation at Benz Stadium

Atlanta Stadium, commonly called the Mercedes-Benz Stadium or 'the Benz,' is preparing to host eight World Cup matches. This ultra-modern indoor arena, located near Centennial Olympic Park, is a focal point for the city's World Cup preparations.

The stadium, which opened in 2018, boasts a retractable roof and can accommodate nearly 80,000 spectators. It has previously hosted significant events like the Super Bowl and college football national championship games.

Notably, the stadium was the temporary residence of Kanye West (Ye) in 2021, who reportedly paid $1 million daily to use a makeshift studio in the visitors' locker room to complete his album 'Donda.'

Currently, a substantial $5 billion Centennial Yards redevelopment project is transforming the area around the stadium, which will include an augmented-reality experience, concert venue, and more.

For the World Cup, the stadium's synthetic turf will be replaced with natural grass, a process stadium officials have extensively tested. Despite Atlanta's hot summers, the roof will remain closed for matches to protect the grass, ensuring a comfortable environment for fans with air conditioning.

Public transportation via MARTA is being emphasized to manage traffic, and the stadium is noted for offering some of the most affordable concessions in the US, with prices typically ranging from $2 to $7.
