Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham became emotional during a press conference while reaffirming his love for his alma mater. This occurred as speculation mounted that he is a primary target for the vacant coaching position at Michigan. Dillingham, who grew up near the Arizona State campus, expressed profound affection for the institution where he has coached since late 2022.

Amidst reports connecting him to Michigan, fueled by social media activity from Wolverines players and personnel, Dillingham stated his agent is actively discussing a revised contract with Arizona State. He described Michigan as a "top program" with an "iconic brand" but stressed that his personal ties to Arizona, including family living nearby, anchor his feelings for the university.

Dillingham led ASU to a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance in their first season in the conference. He holds a 22-16 record over three seasons at ASU, which is preparing to play in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
