27 Jan
Summary
- Youri Tielemans sustained an ankle injury on Sunday, impacting Aston Villa's midfield.
- Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn are also sidelined with injuries.
- Aston Villa is now reconsidering signing Douglas Luiz from Nottingham Forest.
Aston Villa's midfield depth has been significantly tested following an ankle injury to Youri Tielemans, sustained during Sunday's match. This latest blow comes as the team already grapples with long-term absences for Boubacar Kamara and a knee injury for skipper John McGinn.
With three key midfielders unavailable, the club is reportedly revisiting its transfer targets. Daily Mail Sport previously indicated interest in Douglas Luiz and Ruben Loftus-Cheek before Tielemans' injury. The team is now said to be seriously considering a move for Luiz, who previously played for Villa before a transfer to Italy.
Adding to potential reinforcements, Aston Villa is also understood to be on the verge of securing the signing of Tammy Abraham. Besiktas has reportedly agreed to purchase the forward from Roma with the intention of selling him to Villa.
