- Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar are key spinners in Jadeja's absence.
- Mohammed Siraj and Gurnoor Brar will lead the pace attack.

Ahead of India's one-off Test against Afghanistan, former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin expressed particular interest in spin bowling all-rounder Harsh Dubey, who has earned a call-up. Ashwin noted Dubey's strong domestic season and IPL performances as reasons for his potential debut. Kuldeep Yadav is set to lead the spin attack in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, with Washington Sundar providing crucial support through his ability to bowl long, containing spells.
The pace attack will be spearheaded by Mohammed Siraj, who is expected to step up in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. He will be supported by young pacer Gurnoor Brar, whose height offers natural bounce on Indian pitches. Both Siraj and Brar have showcased their capabilities in first-class cricket and the IPL, with Siraj having a notable record against England last year.
Harsh Dubey, who represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in the recent IPL, has a strong first-class record with over 130 wickets and more than 1000 runs. Similarly, Manav Suthar from Rajasthan has also impressed with his bowling and batting credentials in domestic matches. Their inclusion highlights India's strategy to reward consistent performers from the domestic circuit.
