British boxing star Anthony Joshua survived a severe car accident in Nigeria that tragically resulted in the deaths of two of his close friends. The incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leaving Joshua with minor injuries but immense emotional distress. His team has expressed profound concern regarding how he will cope with the trauma.
Kolawole Omoboriowo, who coordinates Joshua's logistics in Nigeria, described the event as a 'crazy nightmare' and emphasized the widespread worry about the boxer's psychological recovery. He noted that one of the deceased was like a twin brother to Joshua and urged for prayers for the boxer's strength to persevere through this profound loss.
The crash involved an SUV that collided with a stationary truck. While Joshua was in the rear passenger seat and survived, his two friends seated on the other side of the vehicle perished. Investigations into the accident suggest the vehicle was speeding when a tyre burst, leading to the loss of control. Joshua was treated at the Duchess International Hospital in Lagos and is reported to be stable.
