Summary
- Infielder Vaughn Grissom activated from injured list.
- Trey Mancini designated for assignment by the Angels.
- Mancini previously battled colon cancer and missed 2024.
The Los Angeles Angels made a roster move on Wednesday, activating infielder Vaughn Grissom from the injured list. Grissom, 25, had been sidelined since June 5 with a left oblique strain. In 40 games this season, he posted a .246 batting average with four home runs and 27 RBIs, seeing action at first, second, and third base.
In a corresponding move, infielder Trey Mancini, 34, was designated for assignment. Mancini joined the Angels' active roster on June 8 after not having played in the major leagues since 2023. During his brief tenure, he recorded a .308 batting average with a triple and four RBIs in five games.
Mancini has a notable history, having missed the entire 2020 season to battle Stage 3 colon cancer. He did not play in 2024 and spent time in the Diamondbacks' minor league system in 2025. He signed a minor league deal with the Angels in February.
