Amshi de Silva, once a promising fast bowler in Sri Lanka, made a significant career change, working shifts at a gas station in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to support his family. His decision to move to America was driven by a desire to reunite with his father, prioritizing family over his international cricket aspirations.

Upon arriving in the U.S., de Silva connected with former Sri Lanka international Angelo Perera, who facilitated his entry into American cricket. He impressed during Texas Super Kings' training sessions, leading to his selection and a $50,000 contract. He has since delivered 12 wickets in eight matches for the team.

De Silva's aggressive bowling style, featuring fast bouncers and yorkers, along with a deceptive slower ball, has made him a sought-after prospect. He is nearing eligibility to represent the USA, a move that could significantly strengthen their pace attack for future T20 World Cup qualifiers.
