Alpha Diallo is entering his rookie NBA season with the Denver Nuggets at the age of 29, a seasoned veteran by league standards.
Diallo spent the last five seasons in Europe with AS Monaco, where he was recognized as the EuroLeague's best defender last season. He is eager to test his skills against top NBA talent, including potentially guarding two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Nuggets coach David Adelman praised Diallo's defensive abilities, noting his athleticism, quickness to the ball, and aggressive play. Nikola Jokic added that Diallo is athletic, can beat opponents to spots, and has a 'little bit dirty' edge to his game.
Diallo signed a one-year deal in August and is still adapting to the NBA's team concepts and different rules, though he is accustomed to playing in front of large crowds. He averaged 11.9 points and 4.4 rebounds for Monaco last season and is expected to contribute off the bench for Denver.
