10 Aug
Summary
- Alonso hit two home runs in back-to-back at-bats on Sunday.
- He reached base in all five plate appearances during the 10-5 win.
- This performance followed a slow start to August for the slugger.
Gunnar Alonso delivered a standout performance on Sunday, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in the Orioles' 10-5 win against the Rangers. This marked his first multi-homer game as an Oriole, with both home runs being two-run shots.
Alonso reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances, a significant turnaround from his recent performance. He entered Sunday with only one extra-base hit in August, batting .160 for the month.
With these two home runs, Alonso now has 25 on the season. He is on pace to surpass 30 home runs for the seventh time in his career, and sixth consecutive season. Despite this surge, his overall season production shows a slight dip compared to his usual standards, with a .472 slugging percentage and .818 OPS.
