Tuch Signs 8-Year Deal, Heads to Capitals

Throughout his five seasons with Buffalo, Tuch, aged 30, was a prominent player. He recorded 309 points in 360 games, achieving three seasons with over 30 goals. His most productive season was in 2022-23, where he amassed 79 points.
This past season, Tuch was instrumental in ending Buffalo's 14-year playoff drought, scoring 33 goals and 66 points. He registered seven points in six playoff games against the Bruins. The Sabres' playoff run concluded in the second round.
Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen had indicated Tuch's departure was expected as he was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Despite mutual interest, contract negotiations did not result in an agreement due to a significant gap.
The Capitals have been active this week, also acquiring forward Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues. They are currently awaiting Alex Ovechkin's decision regarding his potential retirement before the upcoming season.
