Physics Wallah Founder Alakh Pandey recently visited Slum Soccer in Nagpur, donating Rs 33 lakh to support the organization's mission of promoting sports among slum children across India. The NGO, founded by Vijay Barse, utilizes sports to foster education, rehabilitation, and social mobility for vulnerable youth. Pandey engaged with young footballers, acknowledging their challenges and pledging to explore avenues for educational support, particularly for deaf and mute students requiring sign language assistance for competitive exams.
Pandey's visit, funded by his UP Gaurav Samman 2025 prize money, follows his commitment to philanthropic initiatives. He was inspired by the resilience of the players, who shared stories of how sports transformed their lives, helping them overcome addiction and social pressures. The daughter of a daily wage labourer, who is pursuing an MSc in Statistics, credited Slum Soccer and Physics Wallah's affordable online education for her academic pursuits.
Vijay Barse honored Pandey for his significant contribution, commending his vision that extends beyond education to nation-building. This act of generosity is part of Pandey's broader initiative to give back to society after receiving the UP Gaurav Samman, with previous contributions made to support the elderly, pediatric cancer patients, and farmers.
