3 Feb
Summary

- The players will be teammates soon despite their ongoing rivalry.

A simmering seven-year feud between AFL stars Marcus Bontempelli and Toby Greene has been brought to light.
The rivalry's origins trace back to a 2019 elimination final where Greene was penalized for making contact with Bontempelli's face and pulling his hair.
Greene, now captain of the Giants, received a $7,500 fine for the hair-pulling incident. This was followed by a one-match suspension for an eye contact violation against Lachie Neale.
Bontempelli described Greene as an 'antagonist' in a recent interview, noting his constant involvement in confrontations. Greene reciprocated the sentiment, stating he would 'never have a beer' with Bontempelli.
The tension between these prominent players is expected to be on full display during the upcoming AFL season opener on March 14. The Bulldogs will host the Giants at Marvel Stadium.
Ironically, Bontempelli and Greene are also scheduled to unite as teammates for Victoria in the State of Origin contest against Western Australia on February 14.
