Barger's Back Injury Delays Return Further
30 Jun
Summary
- Addison Barger faces extended absence due to a back stress reaction.
- He previously missed time with an elbow issue and ankle sprain.
- Barger's season has been significantly impacted by multiple injuries.

Addison Barger, an outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, will be sidelined for an additional several weeks due to a stress reaction in his back. This diagnosis further impedes his return to the field during an injury-marred season.
Manager John Schneider reported that Barger experienced back discomfort while practicing at the team's Florida facility. Subsequent imaging in Toronto confirmed the stress reaction, a condition involving bone inflammation. Barger has had a limited season, playing only nine games since May 10 due to a previously sore elbow.
His season began with an eight-game stint in March and April before a sprained left ankle caused him to miss 29 games. He briefly returned on May 9, showcasing an impressive outfield assist with a 101.2 mph throw. However, just two days later, he was placed on the injured list with elbow soreness. Last season, Barger contributed 21 homers and 74 RBIs, helping Toronto reach the World Series, where he hit a historic pinch-hit grand slam.
