Rodriguez pointed out Volpe's consistent high strikeout numbers, exceeding 150 in each of his Major League seasons, which he believes hampers offensive contributions.

Rodriguez emphasized that Volpe's primary strength lies in his speed and ability to create runs with his legs, a tool he feels the Yankees' offensive strategy has unfortunately neutralized. In contrast to his minor league success, where Volpe showcased over 50 stolen bases and a more robust offensive profile, his stolen base attempts have been significantly curtailed in the majors.

Adding to these concerns, Volpe underwent surgery for a partial tear in his left shoulder, a significant injury that may keep him sidelined until May. This medical setback introduces further uncertainty regarding his future role and performance within the team's structure.
