The 2025 New York City (NYC) Marathon, the world's largest, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 2, 2025. The highly anticipated event is expected to draw over 50,000 runners from around the globe, who will compete in the iconic 26.2-mile race across the five boroughs of New York City.
The marathon will feature a staggered start, with the first competitors, the men's professional wheelchair division, setting off at 8 AM EST. The women's professional wheelchair division will follow at 8:02 AM, followed by the handcycle category and select athletes with disabilities at 8:22 AM. The professional women's open division will start at 8:35 AM, and the professional men's open division at 9:05 AM. The remaining runners will be divided into five waves, with the final wave starting at 11:30 AM.
The marathon route will take participants from Staten Island, across the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, through Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and finally into Manhattan, where they will finish at the iconic Central Park. Extensive road closures will be in place across the five boroughs to accommodate the event, ensuring the safety of both runners and spectators.
