Rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling is making a significant impression during San Francisco 49ers training camp, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Cornerbacks have highlighted Stribling's remarkable hands as his most impressive attribute, noting his ability to catch the ball away from his body with strong fingertips. This skill contributes to a notable catch radius that has surprised opposing defensive backs.
Beyond his exceptional grip, Stribling has drawn praise for his proficiency in making contested catches. Wide receivers coach Leonard Hankerson stated he has not witnessed a dropped pass from the rookie in such situations during camp. Hankerson further described Stribling as "attacking" the ball and being "strong," indicating a well-rounded skillset beyond just catching.
Stribling's performance is positioning him for a potential role in replacing Jauan Jennings and providing depth behind Mike Evans. Despite missing a few days due to hamstring tightness, he remains on track in his development. The rookie's standout camp performance, especially his hands, has generated considerable excitement among the 49ers organization.
