49ers QB Purdy Battles Injury, Aims for Comeback
13 Nov
Summary
- 49ers QB Brock Purdy limited in practice, working towards return
- Purdy has not played since Week 4 due to toe injury
- 49ers coach Shanahan wants Purdy to have 3 aggressive practices before game action

As of November 13th, 2025, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy continues to be limited in practice as he works to recover from a persistent toe injury. Purdy originally suffered the injury in Week 1 and aggravated it in Week 4, causing him to miss the past 8 games.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that Purdy would have an "aggressive practice" this week, even if it remains limited. Shanahan wants Purdy to complete three such practices before he is cleared to return to game action. "I think each week, it's gone better, with last week being the best," Shanahan said of Purdy's progress. "Each week has been different. So, if he takes a big step forward this week, like he did last week, he should have a good chance to play."
In Purdy's absence, backup quarterback Mac Jones has started the past 8 games for the 49ers. The team has also been without star running back Christian McCaffrey and left tackle Trent Williams for load management purposes. Defensive tackle Alfred Collins, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, and linebacker Dee Winters were limited participants in Wednesday's practice due to various injuries.
