Rookie Surge: 49ers Rookies Shine in Preseason Loss

The San Francisco 49ers commenced their preseason campaign with a 19-13 defeat against the Tennessee Titans, showcasing a performance marked by both challenges and emerging positives.

Notably, four rookie players distinguished themselves, hinting at a potentially strong draft class. Wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling recorded seven catches, while defensive tackle Gracen Halton contributed with a run stop and a blocked sack. Cornerback Ephesians Prysock demonstrated effective coverage skills, and linebacker Jayden Dugger impressed with his diagnostic abilities.

Quarterback Kurtis Rourke exhibited efficiency, completing 12 of 14 passes for 101 yards before suffering a rib injury. However, the offensive line struggled with run blocking, averaging only three yards per carry. Pass protection remained a strength, with only two sacks allowed.

Defensively, the team's interior run defense appeared vulnerable. New acquisition Ogbo Okoronkwo managed a sack, but questions persist about the edge rusher position, especially with Nick Bosa's health status uncertain.

The 49ers are scheduled for a joint practice with the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday, followed by their second exhibition game against them on Thursday night in LA.
