A remarkable 105-year-old fan, Joan Geary, recently fulfilled a lifelong dream by serving as a matchday mascot for Portsmouth Football Club. The surprise event was thoughtfully arranged by Pompey in the Community, bringing significant happiness to the centenarian resident of Cosham Court Nursing Home.
Geary, a devoted supporter, was treated to a special day at the club's game against Derby County on March 16. She had the unique opportunity to meet the players, receive a football signed by the team, and was presented with a custom T-shirt bearing the name "Nan."
Although Portsmouth narrowly lost the match, the occasion itself was a triumph for Geary. Home manager Charisma Williams noted that the experience left the great-grandmother "beaming with pride and joy," creating a lasting, cherished memory for the loyal fan.
