New Spacesuit Blasts Off to ISS

A Soyuz 2.1a rocket successfully launched the Progress MS-34 cargo spacecraft on April 26, 2026, heading for the International Space Station (ISS). This mission is delivering approximately 2.5 tons of essential cargo to support ongoing operations and research aboard the orbiting laboratory.
A significant component of this delivery is a brand-new Orlan-ISS No. 8 Extravehicular Activity (EVA) spacesuit. This advanced suit is critical for astronaut spacewalks, enabling them to conduct repairs and experiments outside the station.
In addition to the spacesuit, the Progress MS-34 is carrying specialized hardware for five distinct scientific experiments: Virtual, Neuroimmunity, Correction, Biodegradation, and Separation. These experiments aim to further our understanding in various fields of science.
The Progress MS-34 spacecraft was assembled and prepared for launch at the Baikonur spaceport, marking another successful step in space logistics for the ISS. The assembly process concluded with the vertical erection of the rocket on the launch pad.
