Summary
- Probiotic L. plantarum FS4722 shows promise for urate regulation.
- Strain from pickled vegetables offers natural hyperuricemia support.
- FS4722 demonstrates drug-like control with better safety in mice.

A novel probiotic strain, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum FS4722, isolated from traditional Chinese pickled vegetables, is showing considerable potential for managing hyperuricemia. This strain, developed by SynbioTech, has demonstrated a multi-pronged approach to regulating uric acid levels in preclinical studies.
FS4722 works by targeting multiple pathways within the gut-liver-kidney axis. It is noted to limit the absorption of purines in the intestines, reduce uric acid production in the liver, and enhance its excretion through the gut and kidneys. The probiotic also helps rebalance the gut microbiome and its metabolites.
