Nehru Science Centre Marks 40 Years of Igniting Scientific Curiosity

On November 11, 2025, the iconic Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai will celebrate its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of igniting scientific curiosity and educating countless visitors. The centre, which was inaugurated in 1985, has played a pivotal role in transforming the way science is presented and understood in India.

Prior to the Nehru Science Centre's establishment, science museums in the country primarily displayed exhibits sourced from outside. However, the new centre revolutionized the concept by providing visitors with hands-on opportunities to understand scientific principles through interactive exhibits and activities. This innovative approach, inspired by the Exploratorium in San Francisco, has since become a benchmark for science museum movements worldwide.
