Mobile Waves No Brain Cancer Link Found
17 Jul
Summary
- New study analyzed WHO reviews on electromagnetic waves.
- No evidence links mobile phone use to brain cancer.
- Cancer rates stable in Australia since the 1980s.

Recent scientific reviews commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO) have concluded that electromagnetic waves emitted by mobile phones do not cause cancer. The analysis, which synthesized findings from 13 separate reviews, focused particularly on brain cancer and head or neck cancers. Researchers examined 63 studies published between 1994 and 2022 and found no link between mobile phone usage, even prolonged use, and an increased risk of these cancers.
Furthermore, the review found no evidence connecting radio or television transmissions to childhood leukemia. While some reviews indicated that the quality of evidence for other health effects was too poor to draw firm conclusions, the data for brain cancer was rated highly. Notably, cancer rates in Australia have remained steady since the 1980s, a period before the widespread adoption of mobile phones, supporting the study's findings.
