His Majesty King Charles recently visited the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) Exhibition and Reception at Hampton Court Palace. The King, who founded the SMI five years ago, engaged with innovators showcasing projects aimed at accelerating the global transition to sustainability. Among the highlighted innovations were a scale replica of the Astroscale ELSA-M satellite, designed for space debris removal, and a model of the Blue Origin space shuttle.
During his visit, King Charles expressed his admiration for the presented designs, calling some "fantastic" and "magnificent." He noted the progress of Astroscale UK, having previously visited their site. The two-day summit hosted global leaders and representatives to discuss sustainable transitions, with the King participating in a feedback discussion with chief executives.
The SMI's mission, as highlighted by its head Jen Jordan-Saifi, is to demonstrate the private sector's crucial role in achieving a sustainable future. The exhibition served as a platform for member companies to display practical solutions and real progress toward this vision.
