The International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled to begin its gradual deorbiting process in 2028. This marks the beginning of the end for the orbiting laboratory, with its final descent into the ocean planned for 2030.
Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov announced that the initial phase of deorbiting will start in 2028. This controlled maneuver will precede the station's ultimate plunge into the ocean two years later.
Simultaneously, Russia is progressing with its own space initiatives. The launch of the first module for the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) is slated for 2028 from the Baikonur Spaceport. Further module launches for the ROS are also planned.
