The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has initiated the third Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon 2026, calling upon student innovators across India. This national competition focuses on leveraging technology to solve critical challenges related to space exploration and Earth's climate.
The hackathon presents participants with fifteen distinct problem statements. These challenges integrate advanced concepts like AI for climate digital twins and analyzing data from missions such as Chandrayaan-2 and Aditya-L1. Participants will also explore areas like exoplanet detection and satellite image enhancement using generative AI.
Eligibility is restricted to currently enrolled undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students from Indian institutions. Teams of three to four members can be formed, even across different universities. Registration commenced on June 10, 2026, and will close on July 1, 2026. An explainer session is planned for June 15 and 16.
Shortlisted teams will receive mentorship from ISRO scientists and experts. The grand finale is slated for August 6-7, 2026, following an induction session on July 21. ISRO may offer internship opportunities to outstanding participants, alongside national recognition and reimbursement for travel expenses to the finale.
