Harvest Moon Supermoon Dazzles Skies on October 6th

On October 6th, 2025, the first supermoon of the year will grace the night sky, marking the close of the harvest season. This Harvest Moon, also known as the Drying Rice Moon, Freezing Moon, and Migrating Moon, will reach peak fullness at 11:47 p.m. ET, providing an extended view for enthusiasts.

The Harvest Moon is set to be especially striking, as it will be the first in a rare trio of consecutive supermoons. Supermoons occur when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth, making it appear about 30% brighter and 14% larger than usual. Skywatchers are advised to find an elevated location with an unobstructed view of the eastern horizon for the best viewing experience, as the moon will be at its most impressive around 15-20 minutes after local moonrise.
