Flat Earth Believers Infiltrate Big Brother House

In a surprising turn of events, the latest season of the reality TV show Big Brother has featured a heated debate about one of the biggest conspiracy theories of all time - the Flat Earth theory. Two housemates, Marcus and Elsa, have openly declared their belief that the Earth is not a globe, but rather a flat, disc-shaped planet.

During a bizarre conversation, Marcus insisted there is "very good evidence" to suggest the world is flat, citing the straight horizon line as proof. He also claimed all photos from space are "obviously" fake, created by artificial intelligence, and that humans have never actually been to the moon. His fellow Flat Earther, Elsa, went even further, stating "I don't think space is real" and that we are living inside a dome.

However, a scientist has now stepped in to debunk one of the Flat Earthers' most common arguments. Dr. Ian Whittaker, a lecturer in physics at Nottingham Trent University, explained that the reason the horizon appears flat is simply due to the scale of our perspective on the ground. At ground level, we can only see a few miles across, which is not enough to perceive the Earth's actual curvature. It is only when viewed from space that the true spherical shape of the planet becomes evident.

As Dr. Whittaker pointed out, if a person were suddenly 12 miles (20km) tall, they might start to see the curvature, but this would still be less than 1% of the Earth's radius. To see 5% of the Earth's curvature, a person would need to be around 200 miles (320km) tall - far taller than any human could ever be.
