A remarkable discovery has been made concerning a taxidermy specimen purchased at auction. The mounted head has now been officially verified as belonging to an extinct Tasmanian Tiger, a creature scientifically known as a thylacine.
Natural history collector James Cranfield of Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, acquired the taxidermy for a significant sum of £62,600 earlier this month. The purchase was made through Auctioneum in Bristol.
Subsequent analysis, including X-ray imaging, conducted by the International Thylacine Specimen Database, has provided definitive proof. This confirmation has brought immense joy to Mr. Cranfield, who described the experience as surreal and dreamlike.
