Dire Wolves Hunt as Pack in Dallas

Colossal Biosciences has announced a significant milestone in its dire wolf de-extinction project, with three wolves now actively hunting as a cohesive pack. The canines, named Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi, were showcased in footage from the company's Dallas headquarters.

These genetically resurrected animals have successfully mastered hunting smaller prey, such as rabbits, and are now beginning to target larger animals. This pack behavior is seen as a critical indicator of their physical maturity and social stability.

Comprehensive annual health examinations, including CT scans and MRI imaging, have confirmed that all three dire wolves are in excellent health. This positive assessment clears the path for carefully planned expansion of the dire wolf pack, though Colossal's chief animal officer emphasizes the need for deliberate growth management.

Last year, the Texas-based startup revealed footage of these unique canines, which were developed using both gray wolf and extinct dire wolf DNA. The project aims to leverage genetic modification for conservation purposes, although it has also ignited ethical discussions regarding de-extinction and genetic engineering.
