Spain Finds First Diplodocus Evidence

Spanish paleontologists have uncovered the first definitive evidence that the famed Diplodocus dinosaur once inhabited Europe. Fossils unearthed in eastern Spain, dating to approximately 150 million years ago, strongly suggest the presence of this iconic long-necked herbivore on the continent. The discovery includes 14 caudal vertebrae and several chevron bones, forming one of the most complete diplodocid specimens found in Europe to date.

This significant find challenges previous understandings of Diplodocus's geographic range, which was previously confined to North America. The identified specimen is estimated to have reached a length of around 25 meters (82 feet). Its discovery adds to a growing collection of large Jurassic sauropods found in the Teruel area of Spain, further highlighting the region's paleontological importance.
