Dragon Man Skull Rewrites Human Evolution
12 Mar
Summary
- Denisovans identified via fossil DNA and a remarkable skull.
- New skulls suggest Homo sapiens may be much older than believed.
- Discoveries could change understanding of human ancestry.

Until recently, Denisovans were known primarily through fragmented fossils and DNA evidence. However, a significant skull unearthed in Harbin, China, has provided a face for this mysterious human species, proposing the name Homo longi, or Dragon Man.
Further discoveries of three ancient skulls in Yunxian, China, are now challenging existing theories of human evolution. These million-year-old artifacts suggest that Homo sapiens could be considerably older than current estimates. This raises questions about the location and timeline for identifying 'Ancestor X,' the common relative from which modern humans, Neanderthals, and Denisovans diverged.
