7 Feb
Summary
- China successfully launched a reusable experimental spacecraft into orbit.
- The mission aims to verify technologies for future spaceflight.
- This marks the fourth reusable spacecraft launch by China since 2020.

China achieved a significant milestone in its space program with the successful launch of a reusable experimental spacecraft on Saturday. The Long March-2F carrier rocket lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the country's northwest. This mission is focused on technological verification for reusable spacecraft, providing essential support for the peaceful utilization of outer space.
This launch marks the fourth instance of China deploying a reusable spacecraft since September 2020. Previous missions have demonstrated increasing durations in orbit. Notably, a spacecraft launched in August 2022 completed a 276-day mission, returning in May 2023. Another launch in September 2024 concluded a 268-day flight, successfully returning to its designated landing site. These advancements are pivotal for lowering the costs and increasing the frequency of spaceflight.
