- Three astronauts are currently on Tiangong station without immediate return.
- China aims to send astronauts to the moon by 2030.
An uncrewed spacecraft has been rapidly launched to China's Tiangong space station to ensure the safety of three astronauts. The mission was accelerated following damage to the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft by debris, rendering it unsafe for human transport back to Earth.
This situation left the current crew without an immediate means of return, prompting the swift deployment of the Shenzhou-22. Officials emphasize that the taikonauts on board are continuing their duties normally. This incident is an unusual hiccup for China's advancing space endeavors.
China's space program has seen significant investment, aiming to rival global space powers and achieve lunar missions by 2030. The nation made history in 2022 as the third country to successfully send humans into orbit.
