Notably, researchers were recognized for transforming sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia treatments through gene editing, restoring sight with gene therapy, and identifying genetic causes for ALS and frontotemporal dementia.
Further accolades were bestowed for breakthroughs in understanding cellular organization, advancements in measuring the muon's magnetic moment, and the new Vera Rubin New Frontiers Prize for early-career women physicists. A prize in Mathematics was also awarded for transformative work on nonlinear evolution equations. The event featured musical performances and tributes to scientists who have passed away.
