According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the Beaver Moon will peak at 8:19 a.m. on November 5, just 221,817 miles from Earth, making it the closest full moon of 2025.
The Beaver Moon, so named for the beavers setting up their lodges for winter, will appear up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon. Stargazers can also enjoy the moon illusion, which will make the supermoon appear even larger near the horizon as it rises each night.
While the moon illusion is a well-known phenomenon, scientists still don't fully understand the reason behind it. "Depending on your mindset, this news might be unsatisfying, or it could be a reason to marvel at our mysterious brains," NASA said.
