Artemis II Crew Enjoys 'Project Hail Mary' Screening
10 Apr
Summary
- Artemis II astronauts watched 'Project Hail Mary' during quarantine.
- The special screening aimed to boost morale before the lunar mission.
- Jeremy Hansen is the first non-American to fly around the Moon.

The Artemis II crew, comprising Mission Commander Reid Wiseman, NASA astronauts Victor Glover and Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, is nearing the end of their 10-day lunar mission. Prior to their April 1 liftoff, the astronauts were treated to a private screening of "Project Hail Mary." This space drama, directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, was shown to them during their quarantine period at Kennedy Space Center.
The film's themes of friendship, sacrifice, and hope resonated deeply with the crew. Jeremy Hansen, who made history as the first non-American to journey around the Moon, shared his appreciation for the morale-boosting experience. He noted that watching the movie at home with their families provided a fitting prelude to their own expedition.
Following their historic lunar fly-by, the four astronauts are scheduled to return to Earth on Friday, April 10. The splashdown is anticipated around 8:07 pm EDT in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of California. The Orion capsule will face extreme temperatures and speeds during atmospheric re-entry, protected by a heat shield before parachutes deploy for a safe landing.
