A new community garden is scheduled to open its gates this Saturday, dedicated to improving resident wellbeing and tackling social isolation. Located at Yarm Wellness, the outdoor space is designed as a hub for connection and mental health.
The garden, a continuous development, will feature three distinct areas. These include raised plant beds with disabled access, vibrant flower beds, and comfortable seating. This expansion builds on the center's existing provisions.
Volunteers have shared how the wellness center has been a lifeline. Linda Fisher, 68, found a community after experiencing isolation, stating the garden will be an 'ice-breaker'. Richard Barker, 82, echoed this sentiment, finding purpose and friendship.
This new garden, developed on land secured from Network Rail, will introduce a Wellness Shed project, a sensory garden, and an outdoor yoga and mindfulness area. It aims to provide a tranquil space for growth and reflection.
