Weymouth Elves Miss World Record by a Whisker
1 Dec
Summary
- Hundreds gathered in Weymouth aiming for a new elf gathering world record.
- The town's attempt fell short of Thailand's current record number.
- Participants showcased creative costumes, some traveling from afar.

A vibrant spectacle unfolded in Weymouth as hundreds of individuals, adorned in red and green with pointy ears, attempted to break the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as elves. This festive parade through the Dorset seaside town saw participants travel from as far as Wales, Winchester, and Yeovil.
Despite the enthusiastic turnout and creative costumes, Weymouth did not claim the record this year, which is currently held by Thailand with 1,762 people. Organizers expressed hope for a successful attempt in 2026, aiming to surpass the existing festive title holders.
The event commenced with registration at Weymouth Pavilion, where attendees were checked for eligibility, with some receiving help to become 'elf-ready' at a workshop. The gathering was led by stilt walkers and Santa Claus himself, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
