Spud Fest Celebrates Maryland's Farm Roots

This weekend, residents of western Maryland are invited to celebrate their rich rural and farm heritage at the annual Spud Fest. The festival, held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washington County Agriculture Education Center on Sharpsburg Pike, honors the agricultural community of the Washington County region.

Activities are designed to be engaging and educational, offering a hands-on experience with farm life. Visitors can witness potato chip-making demonstrations, admire tractor shows, and explore a meticulously recreated 1800s rural village. The event also features draft horses, an antique exhibition, living history presentations, and master gardener workshops.

Children can participate in activities like face painting and a special potato-gathering experience where they get to take home the potatoes they harvest. The festival is free to attend, with donations welcomed at the parking area, making it an accessible celebration of local traditions.
