Volvo's Bold New Colors: Inspired by Forests and Skies

Volvo Cars is embracing a bolder and more daring color palette, infusing its vehicles with fresh hues beyond the usual white, gray, and black. Senior design manager Sara Erichsen Susnjar draws inspiration from the natural world, particularly the changing colors of Swedish forests and the striking tones of inland lakes. This evolution reflects a deeper appreciation for detailed Scandinavian design.

Notable additions include Forest Lake, a deep green-blue evoking Swedish waters, and Aurora Silver, a color designed to align with Volvo's all-electric future. Aurora Silver possesses a dense, silvery appearance with a purple shift, inspired by winter skies and icy reflections. These new finishes are crafted to reveal intricate details upon closer inspection, embodying the subtle richness of Scandinavian aesthetics.

The interior design also sees innovation, with a new herringbone-patterned seat fabric that draws inspiration from coastal landscapes, specifically reflecting the character of Volvo's home base in Gothenburg. This move signifies a departure from convention, showcasing a more expressive and multifaceted approach to automotive design.
