Violet Affleck, the 17-year-old daughter of actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, has been using her platform to advocate for public health and climate change initiatives over the past three years. In December 2022, on her 17th birthday, Violet attended a White House state dinner honoring French President Emmanuel Macron, showcasing her involvement in high-level political discussions.
In July 2024, Violet appeared at an L.A. County Board of Supervisors meeting to discuss COVID-19 precautionary measures and proposed mask bans. Drawing from her own experience with a post-viral condition, Violet emphasized the importance of preventative care and spread mitigation, urging the county not to impose a mask ban.
During her freshman year at Yale University in 2025, Violet published a research paper in the school's Global Health Review, titled "A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles." In the piece, she explored the connections between the COVID-19 pandemic, the devastating L.A. wildfires, and the need for comprehensive clean-air infrastructure and accessible healthcare.
Violet's activism has extended to the global stage as well. In September 2025, she delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, advocating for mask mandates and clean air to prevent the transmission of long COVID, which she says has "surpassed asthma as the most common chronic illness in children in five years and under."
