Varanasi Erupts in Festive Fervor for Lord Krishna's Nativity

In the early hours of Sunday, August 13th, 2025, devotees in Varanasi thronged the Kashi Vishwanath temple to seek the blessings of Laddu Gopal, the child form of Lord Krishna, along with the presiding deity Lord Vishwanath. The opportunity to worship both deities together made the occasion especially significant for the devotees.
The celebrations began late on Saturday night at the KV Dham, with senior priests, scholars, and officials, including CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, in attendance. The birth rituals of Laddu Gopar were performed with devotion, accompanied by continuous chanting of mantras and distribution of prasadam. In the early hours of Sunday, the idol of Laddu Gopal was taken inside the sanctum sanctorum for the Mangala Aarti.
The festive spirit was visible across the city of Varanasi. At police lines and police stations, tableaux depicting scenes from Krishna's life were put on display. The Iskcon temple also witnessed large gatherings of devotees who participated in kirtans and rituals. On the Banaras Hindu University campus, students across hostels celebrated the occasion with enthusiasm, echoing with devotional songs and chants of 'Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki'.
