Uttarakhand is set to invigorate its winter tourism sector with a slate of new attractions, including guided snow leopard tours and heli-skiing. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to ensure all tourism facilities are operational by December 20, ahead of the busy winter pilgrimage season. The state is also planning a Himalayan Car Rally and aims to showcase each district's unique culture through a signature festival.
The Chief Minister emphasized comprehensive readiness, instructing District Magistrates to prepare roads, hotels, and essential infrastructure at major tourist hubs. He stressed maximizing public participation in festivals and developing religious sites like the Saryu Corridor into spiritual centers. Economic potential in sectors like trout farming and kiwi cultivation is also being prioritized.
Key initiatives like the 'Snow Leopard Tour,' modeled after Ladakh's success, are designed to create new employment opportunities, boost homestays, and strengthen the economy of border areas. The state also plans international-level yoga festivals and grand aartis at religious confluences, incorporating tourist feedback into development plans.
