Tripadvisor's recent Best Beach ranking, compiled from millions of reviews, has spotlighted two exceptional UK beaches. Bamburgh Beach in Northumberland achieved third place globally in the 'One of a Kind' category. This Northumberland gem is renowned for its vast sandy shores and the imposing Bamburgh Castle, a historic landmark visible from the beach.
Bamburgh's appeal is amplified by its 1,400-year-old castle, famously featured in historical dramas and films, providing a dramatic backdrop. Travel writer Ryan Gray praised the beach, noting the castle's impressive presence as a unique highlight.
Another UK beach, Sandown on the Isle of Wight, also received recognition, making the top 20 in the 'One of a Kind' rankings. It features five miles of coastline and a prominent pier, and is a popular location for fossil hunting.
The premier 'One of a Kind' beach award went to Boulders Beach in South Africa, home to a colony of endangered African Penguins. Other notable beaches on the list include Isola Bella in Sicily, Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan, and Hopewell Rocks in Canada, famous for its extreme tides.
