A construction worker has experienced an extraordinary stroke of luck after uncovering a 62-year-old horse racing tip hidden within a time capsule. The capsule, discovered during renovations in London's Crystal Palace Park, contained coins and a note from 1964. This note detailed a previous horse racing win and urged the finder to bet on a horse with a related name.
Josh Smalls, a site manager, followed the anonymous tipster's advice and wagered £20 on a horse named Christmas Day. The horse triumphed at 7-1 odds on Saturday, bringing Smalls an exciting win. He described the experience as 'spooky,' especially given his background in horse racing and the uncanny connection to the horse's name.
The time capsule's contents were unearthed on April 15th by contractor Craciun Marius Dorin, whose Romanian surname also means Christmas. The Crystal Palace Park Trust celebrated the fulfilled prophecy on social media, highlighting the remarkable coincidence.
