On November 10, 2025, the Tripurari Pournima festival, a state-recognized celebration dedicated to Lord Vitthal, Rakhumai, and Satyabhama, took place with great fanfare at the banks of the Valvanti River in Vitthalapur Sanquelim, Goa. The event, which drew thousands of devotees, featured a procession of 30 decorated boats, with the highlight being a dramatic performance where the character Tripurasura was defeated, prompting cheers from the crowd.
The festivities began with a procession of Shri Krishna, culminating at the riverbank, where women lit lamps on the water. A special musical program by Goan artists added to the celebratory atmosphere. The arrival of the Vitthal Rakhumai palanquin marked the start of the Tripurasur play, a unique attraction that included the 'Saranga' flying skyward.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant emphasized the Goa government's continued support for local festivals, such as the Tripurari Pournima and the Chikhal Kalo mud festival, which was also celebrated with enthusiasm, featuring traditional sports and games.
