3 May
Summary
- A trip to A&E for stomach pains revealed a quadruplet pregnancy.
- The mother refused a selective reduction, opting for all four babies.
- She gave birth to three boys and one girl, later joined them at home.

April Fields, a 25-year-old mother from Texas, experienced severe stomach pains at eight weeks pregnant, leading her to seek urgent medical attention. Initially fearing a complication like a cyst, she was astonished when hospital scans revealed she was expecting quadruplets. This news came as a shock, as she and her husband, Shawnpail Fields, were not planning another child, let alone four. The couple already had three young children.
Doctors advised a high-risk pregnancy and suggested selective reduction to improve survival chances. However, the couple firmly refused to terminate any of the four fetuses, wanting to give them all an equal opportunity to live. As April's pregnancy progressed, her bump grew significantly, requiring her admission to the hospital at 25 weeks for continuous monitoring.
In July 2025, April delivered three boys—Artemis, Denahi, and Curtis—and one daughter, Eudora, via cesarean section. Although born healthy, the premature quadruplets were immediately transferred to intensive care. After several weeks, the babies were discharged from the hospital and brought home, expanding their family to nine members, a situation the mother described as challenging but fulfilling.
